Evil noise from ignition
Well I had to run some errands, so I came back after 10 mins and parked it in my parking space, turned the ignition off, and tried it again. No machine gun noise. Regular quiet ignition.
Is my starter dying? Do I need a new one? (hope not)
Help is apprciated.
Anyway, I wouldn't try to start it again without taking the starter off and examining. If you need to replace it, I recommend having the part's store look up a '93 Mustang (auto or manual, as the application may be) Don't tell them you have a Bronco, because the cores won't match. Just bring the core back later, and no one will know. Not that I've done this before or anything.
The Mustang starter is more expensive, but a much better design. Lighter, and more powerful! You'll need to run one additional wire from the starter solenoid on the fender, and transfer the heavy starter lead to the bettery side of the solenoid - OR you could just get another Bronco starter and be on your way. Ask for more info if you're interested in the upgrade. Don't use your starter until it's been removed and bench tested!!
