4X4 Light doesn't come on!

4X4 Light doesn't come on!
I have a 1997 PSD and I had to lock it into 4 wheel drive this morning and the 4x4 light on the dash didn't come on! It did lock in to 4 wheel drive, but no light. What may be causing this? (is it as simple as a fuse?)

This is exactly what I just showed up to ask about. First, when it is cold (less than 35 ish) none of the small lights work. Blinkers, hazards, and just recently I needed the 4WD light, it did not work. Then I used 4WD for about 6 F-ing hours through Colorado. It came on after a while, then took it out of 4WD and now it won't go off.?? It is clearly not in 4WD but the light stays on. It is still fairly cold. Any thoughts, besides move South. Also some heavy front end noise I will put that on another post.

I had this problem. 4low light worked and the 4x4 engaged, so I knew it was the light.
The light is cheap, but time consuming to change.
Shift the truck into 4wd, make a slow and sharp turn, and you will soon know if it is engaged! If it engages, then you know it is just the light.
