Fuel gauge died
The fuel gauge stopped working on my 1996 Ranger XLT. Can't find any blown fuses or loose wires. Is this a common problem and is there a chance that it might be corrected without going into the fuel tank? Thanks for any information.

Fuel gauge died
You can test sendor by measuring the resistance, 160 ohms full, around 10 empty. You can test the gauge the same way using resistors in place of the sendor, give it a minute or two for it to read accurate. If you have to replace the sendor, which is part of the pump, pull the bed off, it's easier than trying to drop the tank.
