Ok, this is a new one to me and maybe one of you has experienced this in the past and can tell me what is going on. I have a 1994 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer Edition with the 351 motor. The dummy light for the battery sometimes blinks off and on and at other times it just stays on. On the flip side, my voltmeter gauge (the dummy light and voltmeter gauge are all factory) shows that I'm in the positive. I've checked my voltmeter gauge by turning on my headlights and rolling down a window and you can see the needle move towards the negative. I figured that meant everything is working fine coupled with the fact that I've driven it that way for months now and the battery has a full charge. Any ideas what is going on and if my dummy light went crazy how do I fix it. If it matters my batter is about five years old and will be getting changed this next weekend. Thanks fellers.
sounds like a bad ground. also check or replace your negative/positive cables. they could be working but just not that well causing a slight drain or short. if you do this upgrade to 4gauge cables , might even look into an altinator upgrade
I put a 160 amp alternator in mine and the gauge barely moves, even with the high beams on, the wipers going, the heat on high, and the 610 watt stereo pumping - at idle. The lights never dim or anything. A huge improvement over the stock one.
there is a group buy going on in another forum for a 200amp 3G alt shipped to your door for 150. probably the best deal youll find anywhere. the guy also makes the proper wiring that you would need for cheap so you dont catch on fire hehe
