This may sound stupid but i was considering getting 2 10" woofers put in my 1996 regular cab F-150 and i just wanted to know if anyone could tell me if i would lose a lot of legroom by doing so
It depends on how close you sit to the steering wheel. I am 5'11" tall, but I like to sit closer to the steering wheel than other people that are my height. I have 2 12's behind my seat. All I did was keep the seat where it normally would be, measure the height and width of the space behind my seat and then built the box according to the space I had. I'm running 2 12" Rockford Fosgate Audiophiles (which are an old series they don't make anymore) and they sound incredible. I built a sealed enclosure for them. I built my box to conture to the space, meaning the box is smaller at the top and bigger at the bottom, to maximize the size of the box. Some 3/4" MDF, wood glue and sheetrock screws is all you need.
I've got a 96 F-150 reg. cab too. Dual 12's is impossible or VERY VERY difficult to accomplish with the seat all the way back. I've got a buddy with dual 10's and his seat is one notch forward, sounds pretty good
I had 2 12" L7 solobarics in my 98 f150 in a box in between the 2 captains chairs after taking out the center console. This was when they first came out. They hit very hard!
andyman, i had 2 12's with the seat just forward a little bit. so it is not as hard as you think.
"Foward a little bit" isn't the same as "all the way back" when 1/8 inches matter. The mounting depth on just about every decent 12" sub is more than you have available behind your seat when you add in the thickness of your box. Some tall people that drive manual transmissions (like myself) NEED the seat all the way back.
On my 82 flareside ( i have buckets and they are angle different) i have the seat all the way back and i managed to fit 2 10" JL's (10Wo4's) just fine, i made a custom enclosure to for each sub (and a 6x9 speaker too), to help save you some space use 1/2" instead of 3/4", i say this because you aren't really pushing a lot of power to need the 3/4".
Anywho, i run my 2 JL's with an alpine V12 class D digital amp, a little pricey but worth it, and the subs hit hard and don't distort either.
was wondering if anyone knew how good the pentadon shaped 10'' sony xplod's were. was talking to a friend at work and he knew a guy that had two and said he never had any trouble out of them.
appreciate anyone who could tell me more about them
