On my 04, there is a sticker on the driver's side valve cover that shows the date manufactured. It is toward the rear and is not easy to see on my truck.

As for oil; there is lots of info on this site about oil choices. Read as much as you can stand, and make an informed choice.

Ditto on pappy's reply.

Use the search function for oil. Just make sure the oil is CI-4 rated; just about anything with that rating will do its job. Some like Chevron Delo, some stick with Motorcraft, some like Royal Purple or Amsoil...I personally prefer Mobil Delvac (Truck and SUV) synthetic. Truth of the matter is, is that if it's rated CI-4, it will be just fine.

Welcome to FTE...Check out the thread links in the Tech Folder at the beginning of the forum- it will keep you busy for days. If your shopping for gauges and tuners, check out the "Parts Shop" link at the top of the page to Motorhaven, FTE's primary sponsor.

I got some Penzoil Long Life 15w-40 CI-4 from Walmart for like 6.25 per gallon.

Sticker on the drivers side valve cover as previously suggested.

Or my personal favorite - carbon dating

Keep that one in your back pocket because 100,000 years from now when the valve cover sticker has long since worn away you'll need some way to figure it out
