How do you remove the pully from the power steering pump?

I'd expect that it's pressed on; if so simply use a puller. Pull on the hub, not the outer edges of the wheel.

Power Steering Pump Pulley

I just did this yesterday on a 1997 Ranger, 4 cyl. A special puller is available at your local auot parts store for just this purpose. You will also need a separate installation tool. The tools also comes as a set with the remover and installation tool. I purchased mine at an O'Reilly's Auto Parts. I also saw one availabe at an Autozone later in the day. The tool works very well. I strongly recommend it.

I recommend the tool. I tried to pull it with gear puller and broke the pulley. The added about $15.00 to the cost of the job. Hope this helps.

That is right, buy or rent the special tool. The pulley will likely be "stuck" on the shaft, it is a very(did I say very?) tight fit. Without the right tools, that pulley won't come off. I have the pulley installer/removal kit myself and still had to work very hard at popping the pulley off and on.After you figure out how the kit works, consider spraying the tools with WD40 or liquid wrench, etc.to help things from binding too much, the threads are under alot of stress when pulling or installing the tool and the oil helps.
