Recieved my Auto Meter Sport Comp Trans Temp, Pyro, and Boost gauges yesterday and had a couple of questions.
1. What values am i looking for from the gauges after install to stay in the green zone?
2. What is the best way to feed all the lines for the gauges to the A-pillar? Is there a "secret trick"?
I have a STOCK 2001 F-350ExCab SD 7.3PSD DRW LWB 4x4
1. Tranny temps - Always keep it less than 200 degrees ~ 150-180
EGT ~600-700
Turbo boost ~3-4 psi
These are at ~2000RPM
Now pulling long hills at 2300-2500RPM; EGTs can run 1100, boost can climb 15-17
Those numbers above are fairly accurate may vary slightly. Just keep an eye on the EGT's when really getting on the throttle. Don't excede 1200* for a long period of time. Like one minute to be safe! As for installation I wired my gauge in the pillar after I made the holes to mount it. Do a neat install and wire tie the bundles for most avaliable room. Then remount the pillar and tie in your connections. Good Luck!
i know on my 96 its rated at 1050 short term max and sustained is 950. mine at 65 empty i run 4 psi boost, and 500 degrees pyro. i get 17 to 23 with mine. pulling a loaded stock trailer it runs 7-800 degrees and 7-11 psi boost and i get around 14-16 to the gallon there.
Thanks all, I have been working on the guage install on the pod and so far very easy, just time consuming. The rest dont look too bad either. I'll post when I'm done about the final results.
Who did you buy your gauges from? I'm interested installed the same gauges in my F-350 also. I'm really interested in how you make out installing your gauges
Gauge install Went GREAT!!! Looks and performs awesome. I got my gauges and pod from http://www.summitracing.com/. Here are the part numbers...
ATM-17307 A-pillar triple gauge ( gauges are mounted in )
ATM-3304 Boost 35 psi
ATM-3344 Pyrometer W/ hardware ( thermocouple included ) This is the gauge you were inquiring about.
ATM-3357 Temp gauge ( used for trans temp )
The installation was fairly simple. Just take it slow when tapping into your exhaust and you'll be good. I pre-installed everything into the pod and wired up all the gauges with quick dissconnects at the base of the a-pillar(except pyrometer thermocouple wires) for easy removal. Then all that remained was the basic wiring on the truck and tapping into boost line.
