Block Heater Operation Cost

Here is a link to calc cost. Depends on what your electric company charges, though. But, it gives you an idea.

Comes out to about $0.25 a day for three hours of heater usage. So, about a buck a day if you plug it in when you get home and unplug in the morning.

Hope this helps. Makes it worth the ten dollar timer cost if you only need 3 hours worth of heat.

Hmmmm, timer eh? I hadn't thought of that option. Good idea. I had no idea that block heaters costed that much to use. a buck per day is a good two cases of my kinda beer(miller high life) per month!!! Thanks T

Take it one step farther, take that timer and plug one of these temp sense switches into it and then it will only come on during a certain time and if the temp drops below a certain point...

Thanks olfordsnstone... This appears to be the first thread where someone spoke Miller language and it helps many of us (including the lurkers) comprehend the cost associated with subject at hand

I'm going to get a timer...
