spark plugs

I recently bought some new plugs for my 99 4.0L, as seemed to be the comon consensus I bought motorcraft. What I was wondering is the plugs I removed had 22PPM on them and the plugs the dealer gave me and I installed had 22FM, whats the difference? The old plugs I know were also not the originals.
It was a pain changing some of them I hope the dealer didn't screw up!
Thanks.

According to the motorcraft.com parts catalog, you have the right plugs. http://motorcraft.com/default.asp?T=3&PageID=0

The PP's are double platinums, which are the correct replacements. The F's are the new fine wire plugs which are said to be the latest replacement. Being they are 'fine wire' they require less voltage and there shouldn't be any problems with the waste spark system.

They should be fine.

I recently replaced the plugs in my 97 Ranger with the new fine wire platinum plugs, and have not had any problems. I would definitely recommend them to anybody wondering about them. In fact, it seems to have to have helped with my highway gas mileage. I do a lot of traveling in the mountains around here (in Georgia) and any slight increase in mileage is welcome. And No, my driving habits haven't changed. I still drive my truck hard.

How much are you guys paying per plug for the Motorcraft double platinums? Local auto parts stores wanted like $5 each for them!!

The autolite double platinum, which everyone on here says is the same thing as Motorcraft double platinum, are $4 each at Autozone. But then you get a $1 mail in rebate per plug through dec 31, so thats only $3 each. Not bad for double platinums. probably going to get them and put them in tommorow.....

That sounds about right. I paid about $40 bucks to do the tune-up myself, but figured that was better than taking it to the dealer to have it done. I've messed around with enough of the 2.3l engines, that it has almost become an art to change the spark plugs. I've even had my brother-in-law asked me to change his in his Ranger (2.3l), but knowing his mechanical abilities, I don't think he could change a light bulb.
