I have a 76 302 and I'm a total n00b. But where is the drain plug(s) for coolant on the engine block? I'd be looking right now but it's leaking coolant out the waterpump. I think it's shot. I need to no ASAP, so any help is appreciated thanks.
i dont think the block has any drain plugs, i do belive the only one is in the bottom of the radiator, but if there is, they woulb be low on the block and look like a pipe plug, or a thread in plug with a square drive in it.
Don't know about '76, but later years have block drain plugs.
My '86 block has two. Drivers side towards rear of engine at bottom side of block. Passenger side towards front of engine at bottom side of block.
The '99 block that's replacing it has 3, sort of.
2 in identical locations as the '86.
3'rd looks like it was designed for a sensor (fine threads) located between cylinders 6 and 7, directly behind the motor mount on the drivers side.
Don't recall the appearance of the stock plugs, but were probably square drive pipe plugs.
My 87 351 has a small one on the driver side that I noticed, While i was out there taking off some rods, so im sure the 302 probly has one somewhere, but i usually do just what you did and pop off the lower hose into a 5 gallon bucket. its much faster.
