Hello, I had posted in the registration section and listed my numbers for my truck but I dont know if everyone is full of turkey and taking the weekend off but I have not gotten a reply to my post, maybe I am getting to antsy for information. I have just yanked the radiator out of my 1960 F-100 and waiting for Monday to roll around so I can get it repaired, then the truck will be drivable. I had picked the truck up in Butte, NE and now it lives in Omaha, its going to take a bit of work to get it up to snuff but I figure my grandson has 15 years till he's legal driving age so I have time, who knows, maybe cars will be nonexistant by then.... anyway.. I am going to post my vin info again and am asking for someone to decipher it for me, I keep getting asked what size engine it has and cant come up with a answer, make getting parts a hit or miss propasition, the info is as follows:

F10J0K64737
118 B F100 28W F 0B
5000 126 4000 1768

Any help would be apprieciated.

Smile Vin Number

F10 = F-100
J = 233 cu.in @ 126 H.P.
0 = 1960
K = Kansas City assembly plant
64737 = 64,737th built

I can't get my hands on the legend to decipher the rest of the numbers you listed, but the paint code is probably in there somewhere.

Keep browsing the site. That's where I get most of my information.

Welcome to our corner of FTE!
I never read the upper forums - just go straight to the classic trucks.

jvmcc gave you the vin info except for one typo - its a 223 six cyl

here's the second line:
118 wheel base
Turquoise exterior color
5,000 gvw
Built 28 September (second year)
Tranny 4 spd Warner T-98A
Rear end ratio 3.92

third line has max gvw, certified HP, rest of the number string is likely DSO (direct special order) code/dealer code number

Welcome to the group! I am also a new member and have found everyone here to be very helpful. I had a 1961 F100 when I was a teenager, I believe was the same color. Can't wait to see the pictures if you post them. Will probably bring back some memories. I remember buying it with my dad for $200. It had fur glued to the dash. Good memories. Enjoy the project and grandson!

Thanks for the info, just got done scraping about 20 pounds of dirt and grease off the under carrige, prepping it for a trip to the car wash to clean the engine, really excited to get started on her. Does anyone have a recommendation on a book for this truck, I would like to keep her in factory condition.

Rodney,

Check out our list of vendors, some of them will send you a catalog, or you can browse parts on-line. Mac's, LMC, and Dennis Carpenter are just a few of them. One of the first things I bought for my truck was a copy of the service manual. I would suggest you begin with this book. Good Luck with it!
