Smile new guy question

Hi all you FORD owners. This is my second attempt at this question. I wasn't logged in the first time and my message went into computer heaven when I tried to send it. So.......here we go again. I sometimes drive off road (mostly mountain, dry dirt roads) and sometimes come to steep hills. Since I have two wheel drive my only alternative is to turn around and go back (hate that!) or back up and take a run at it. Take a run at it works but I don't like that "on the edge of out of control" feeling that goes with it. I'm looking at an aftermarket "Detroit Locker". Never had one and know absolutly nothing about them so any input or other suggestions will help.
Thanks, Fang180

Your 2wd doesn't have limited slip? I thought all came 2wd came with LS, a detriot locker wont help anything if you already have LS. I might be wrong. Get a 4wd.

Nope. It would be nice if it was standard equipment.

Nope, no LS in my truck, I checked. That's why I was looking at "lockers". I thought about a new 4x4........for about 10 minutes.......decided my "pinkslip" looked better than payments though.
Thanks for the reply,
