Tranny Number

I have a 1997 F150 4.6/V8 4X4. I need the gear on the end of the speed sensor to fix my problem. I have called a couple of Ford dealers and they need the number off my transmission in order to get the part. Can anyone tell me where this number is located? Thanks!

Do you mean the transmission code? It should be on the door sticker. Take a look here:

Actually the dealer is referring to the transmission tag number. There should be a little metal tag attached to the tranny. It was there from the factory.
