5th Wheel Tailgates

I will take delivery of a 05 F250 CC PSD soon. (Build date was 22 Nov). Hinting for the kids to give money for Christmas to purchase a 5th wheel tailgate. I am leaning towards Husky's locking anodized aluminum model. Also considering a plastic/aluminum model. Have steel on my 95 which is quickly turning to rust.

Anybody with any experience with 5th wheel tailgates? Interested in weight handling capability also.

Chuck

I have a steel painted one that works OK. I recently saw the aluminum Husky tailgate on a 04 F350 dually in a campground. That is the best fifthwheel tailgate I have ever seen. How much is the price tag on that tailgate?

It looks like it's in the $350-$400 range. Don't need it untill spring as the 5th wheel is winterized. First item will be a spray in bedliner.

Neat!!! I'll have to keep my eye out at the local junkyards and give it a try. Did you braze a cover on the cutout or put a fiberglass patch on?

I really like the look of that one too. But, when you read the install instructions you have to take the latch pins off your box. So then you can't just throw your regular tailgate back on. For me I like to switch back and forth. so this ones out for me!
