I Have A 1994 F150 Ext Cab Swb....i Want To Install A 3'' Body Lift And To Clear My New Tires...does Anyone Know What All It Involves , How Easy And Does Anyone Have A 2wd With A Body Lift...pics Wanted!
Installing a body lift is fairly easy, though you do need access to a hoist, or strong friends.
A body lift is essentially a set of spacers that go between the frame and the body, with some longer bolts. Some of the kits include brackets to move the bumpers up the same distance, and some kits require you to extend the steering column shaft.
But again, aside from needing strong friends, its an easy thing to do.
Make sure you get a kit with the steering linkage extender and bumper relocation brackets. Some models also require moving the radiator shround, tranmission and/or tranfer cas linkages. I did a 93 f250 4wd so i assume it would be about like yours. Moved shroud, extended steering, raised tranfer case shifter, and had to extend the gas filler hoses everything else was fine. Watch out for ground wires, breather tubes, etc. to make sure they have enough slack. Also check first if you exhaust is connected to your frame or body, That can be an issue if connected to the body. Aslo while your in that far you may want to consider replacing body bushings with aftermarket ones if they are starting to rot out. It is simple, but can be a pain. Better plan on having something to cut the old bolts off with unless your truck is really rust free.
