I just bought a 2004 F150 FX4. The service guys at the dealership say I can't change tire size at all or it will mess up the computer. Has anyone heard otherwise. Thanks.
well, you can always change tires in size, but your speedometer will be off ( MPH ) . Ford actually can use computer to adjust the size by their computer.
OTher solve problem is to buy superchiper misotuner or dialbo cuz it can adjust to correct size of tires by you. its cool..
Go and read the info on superchip or dialbo. its a bit pricy but worth it cuz it will help omit delay throttle respone and better shifting tranny and also gain some HP/torque
Well, I am a Ford Master Tech at a dealership. I too have an '04 FX4 and I went from the 275/65/18s to a 285/70/17 on 17x9 wheels. And I been so busy I haven't bothered fixing the speedo, Have put 1k miles on new tires/wheels with no problems. Your dealer is full of it. Hate to say it, but find another dealer. Dealers like that really **** me off. But at the same time I gain alot of customers because of dealers like that..........lol
Your dealer is full of it. I bought my truck with 22" wheels and 37" tires already on it and my dealer reprogramed the computer for the tire size when they put the tires and wheels on. My speedo is right on.
