Anyone with an 80-96 Bronco or 80-90's F250/350 I need a favor. Can you measure the frame rails ( outside to outside) right under the front cab mounts and let me know what you come up with for width?
my 87 f-150 is 36" outside to outside, its the same frame for f-150 250 and 350, just minus some plating on the top and bottom, and a bronco is only half ton anyway.
Is it 36 all the way down? I heard it was only out at the front and rear ends..narrow under the cab. Why I ask is Dana 60 conversion. Newer 80-96 D60's use 36.5 inch pad spacing ( would be directly under your frame for hanging springs)...but guys are using front of rear leaf spring hangers at the back of the front springs to space them off the frame to match the front width.
CUrious as I want to do this swap to an older 78-79 frame and they are 34 inches under the cab..if I used the rear hangers as noted..they move the spring centre out 3 inches each side...which puts me @ 40 inches.
you want to use front shackles from an f-350 of the same vintage with f-350 springs and track bar and it will fit under, i have seen it done before and looks really good, i almost bought one, it was an 89 f-150 with one ton running gear and thats how they did it, the axle was from the same vintage. the measurement gave you was from just under the cab mounts right behind the radius arms, the 34 inches sounds like it would be in the center of the two frame rails and probly would work.
