Oil Ratings?

Does anyone know what this oil rating means. CI/SL API CH4.
It is the rating Mohawk oil has on it's 15/40 ultra plus diesel oil.
Just wondering if it meets the cg-4/sh service requirements.

They have a higher rating than CG-4/SH. The C is for diesel and the S is for gas. They go CG-4, CH-4 and the latest is CI-4 for diesel. For gas they are SH, SJ and now SL. I wouldn't use anything less than a CH-4 motor oil in your diesel. There isn't much CH-4 around since most of the new diesels require CI-4 spec oil.

and for some useless information is that in CI-4, the C stands for combustion, and for say the SJ the S stands for spark, thats cause gas engines use sparkplugs. theres my .02, well maybe its worth .05 hey? haha

I just checked again oil says CI4/SL so it looks like it meets the specs.
I believe it is re-refined oil any opinions out there?

I can't comment with authority, but I think re-refined oil is pretty good. I read it has been tempered from use and is more stable. I don't know about the additive package. If the old can be refined out and fresh installed.
