I just picked up my first "real" truck. I had a Jeep Wrangler as my daily and my vette's my weekend toy. I love the truck. It's a 1997 F150 3-door extended cab SB. I've owned it since Monday. I purchased new Silverstars and a K&N so far. My main question is about keyless entry. I didn't get any fobs, but this truck is loaded with every option and I am suspicious it may have ke. What's the easiest way for me to tell? On my vette and my wife's Trailblazer, they have the RPO's posted in the vehicle. I understand Fords are different? Thanks to all.
If you want keyless entry you might want to consider installing a remote starter with the keyless entry option. That's quite an easy way to add it.
Thanks. I wonder something else. How much extra was the KE option on my 97? About the price of two key fobs? Would it be too far fetched to think perhaps ALL these trucks have KE and you simply get the fobs when a truck is optioned with KE? It would make sense to equip all trucks the same, wiring harnesses etc. and simply program and supply the fobs upon purchase. Has anyone tried to program a fob in a supposedly "non-KE" optioned truck?
I didn't read the post that was mentioned, but try this.. turn your ignition key off and 'on' (not started.. as an eg, turn to where radio will not play, then to the point when it will play) 10 times.. if your locks on your doors automatically lock and unlock, then you have a wireless equipped f150.. I know my '00 doesn't have it..

Other Fords are like this, such as Explorers, Thunderbirds, Cougars. You have to search hard to find out where the KE box is located in the vehicle, I don't know on F150's because I have an XL, I do know where it is on T-Birds and Cougars though =). I know not all the trucks would have the supplied equipment, but some of the upper end models might. Sorry I can't help any more than what I have to say!
