84 Ranger Crankcase Vent Separator Assembly
There is a small grey box attached to the intake manifold which also has a hose attached to the bottom of the pcv valve. My haynes manual lists this as the 'Crankcase Vent Separator Assembly'. It is horribly clogged with sludge! My manual doesn't list any way to remove it or clean it. Can anyone help?

84 Ranger Crankcase Vent Separator Assembly
The box should be approximately 1 1/4" by 4" with a 3/4" hole in the top. It is pressed into the lower portion of the block near the pan. Intake manifold vacuum sucks oil vapor from the block into the separator where oil falls back and vapor goes to the PCV, intake manifold to be burned. You should be a be able to remove it to flush it and then press it back in.
