Different Front End Clunk
I have a 01 CC, SB, 4x4, 5.4L. On occasion, when I hit the brakes going foward I get a clunk that feels like it is under the driver's side floor board. It only happens going foward and usually only on the initial application of the brakes. The noise does not exist when hitting the brakes in reverse. I have read other threads on front end noise and have check shock bolts, sway bar bolts, etc. and everthing is tight. Anybody have other ideas?

My 2000 SD CC 5.4 just started doing the same exact thing about two weeks ago. Front drivers corner when applying brakes. Does not make any noise in potholes or bumps-only when applying brakes and only in drivers wheel well. I checked my rotors, pads, and calipers, shocks. All the bushings look good as well as spring purches. Everything is good there. I read in a few other posts to check the ball joints. I'm hoping its not that, but at 90K?????

had this question in the diesel page a month or so ago. The front drive shaft slip joint not having enough greese was causing the clunk. ???? How or why I do not know. but they said the noise went away after lubing. he even had pictures in his gallery, and the splines were close to being dry from the factory.
