sup/charg 5.4 question ?
The Dec. issue of Off Road magazine features a supercharger installed on a 5.4 engine. Is the 2004 F250 5.4 mass air or speed-density. because if it is S/D, I've read that supercharging throws off the computer? The article states decent gains after installation but doesn't mention anything about reprograming the computer?

Anytime you go forced induction on a N/A motor you are going to need some tuning. Otherwise you'll leave a lot of power on the table. Think the 04 (3V) 5.4's in the F-150's are not mass air though. I remember reading something about them using a new system.

thanks CJ & 2000-B for your info. the reason I asked, is that the place where I work at has several f250 HD with the 5.4. I'm hoping to buy one of them when the fleet changes every 3 years and I was thinking of supercharging it. the trucks are out in the field right now and I'll have to wait till they return to the baseyard so I can look to see if they have an air-flow meter. I don't remember seeing one but I do remember the engine having several Ign. coils on the v/cover.
