Strange 292 engine problem, need help.

Thanks for the update people seldom come back and say what solved the problem it helps us all. I live in Mt.Airy near Frederick north of dc. I thought they all had exhaust gaskets but I looked in my ford parts book and I can not find exhaust gaskets or a listing for them. So maybe they didn't? I know my engine will leak with out them. I guess age, heat and rust will change the metal I have seen other engines do the same.

Many years ago I tore down a never-touched 56 292 car engine and there were no exhaust manifold gaskets either. Never gave it much thought at the time but I'd say they never came with them.
