Talking anyone running 17's?

I'm looking for new rims and tires and was told I should go with 17x8 and 17x7 in the front on my 56 truck. Anyone running this size and what size tire are you running so I can make a comparison. I've been looking at the American racing rims hopster classics and am considering the Torque Twister II's. (I know everyone has them). Or, should I stick with 15". They are both available.

I'd really like to run 17s, or at least 16s. They will definitely fit, and help fill the gap. My opinion? You're just beginning to sacrifice enough sidewall to affect ride when you get up around 17", if you run a typical low profile tire. Regarding the rim choices. Definitely stay away from the anything with that 50s-60s era look. Somebody like me might give you some awful label like rodder, rat rodder or something. Gimme a break, everybody wears their label with pride around here. Go count the times mentioned in the lets move the stocker forum. Everybody proudly labels themselves.

J/K, I like most of the torque thrust variant designs. Never heard of the things until Himmelberg mentioned them. I don't personally care for the hopster as it reminds me of a biker tattoo. I am going to have a second set of wheels someday, but I have to figure out who I am first. I'm all confused and insecure after reading the other threads this week.

I truly understand! LOL... By the way, thank for pointing out the fact that the hopsters look like biker tattoos. First thing that came to my mind was Jesse James. I don't think these rims are an option anymore. LOL.... I think the 17" are looking good to me right now. Thanks.

I checked out your gallery. Truck is going to be nice when you get done. I'd love to see what those rims look like with the body and fenders all together. Keep up the great work. You need to post more pictures. (smile)

I am running 17x8 rear and 17x7 in the front Mustang II suspension and 4 out of 10 leafs removed in the rear. front 245x55 and rear 275 rear stock offset on American torque thrust II. Would have to check second figure on the 275's. front bumber is 6" off the ground the wide front tires gives it grat road hugging ability. Ed ke6bnl
