Didn't notice any recent kill stories so here's mine. Buddy of mine has a late 70's Camaro with a modded 350, estimated to be putting out around 400hp. He wanted to run against me to estimate his quarter time since I'm running around the 14.8 mark.
Well, I ripped the tires for about a block off the line, which I figured he would definitely pull infront but didn't. Took him, from the glimpse that I saw, by about 2 truck lengths. He's most definitely not running anywhere around 400hp. On another note, the new exhaust system is really starting to show the improvement. 5700rpm redline comes in a flash! Too bad the cam won't allow anymore. Definitely the next upgrade.
Anyways, post your latest kill stories.
BTW, I have some vids I took from my new digi cam, just need a host!
Well you are right about your friends car. I just got done building a 350 (355) in a friend of mines '89 Firebird about two Months ago. We finally got to go run it about two weeks ago and he ran a 12.89 in the 1/4 mile. this is a streetable every day car. the desktop dyno put his engine at 391hp and 445tq. Either your friends car needs some tunning or it an't what he said it is.
matched valve springs with the cam is definately the way to go. the springs on my edels wouldnt hold up to the cam i was using. so i went with the manuf. recommendation. my .02
oh yeah forgot about my kill story. i spanked a ricer with my stock 360( save for the headers, flows, and 4bbl.) powershifting the sweet three speed on the column. i think me in my old "farm truck" embarassed him in front of his girlfriend.

Nice stir-fry.
Hey, has anyone bolted up an overdrive? At SEMA, they were advertising them, and can be bolted to any tranny. Wonder what the cost is.
hey man if you want to check out gear vendors, they have an overdrive bolt on unit. that is if you want to fork out 2200.00 bones. they can handle a heckuvalota hp though. myself i went with an overdrive ford 3 spud (3+1). works pretty good and was about 2000 cheaper than GV. working on maybe a T-5 swap though. anyway my .02

You paid 200 for your overdrive? Was this new or used, and where'd you find it?
My truck is a very poor for highway. Because of the gear ratio, I have to keep it down to a minimum.
its an actual ford tranny. it looks identical to a toploader small shaft. i think it came in mid-late 70's granadas and such with 302s. it bolts right up to my 390. only down fall is 3rd gear is one to one, so theres a big jump from 2nd to 3rd. 4th is overdrive but not sure of the ratio. its heaven on the interstate though. i can do 80 all day long.(3.70 gear) good luck with your project man.
