Didn't notice any recent kill stories so here mine. Buddy of mine has a lates 70's Camaro with a modded 350, estimated to be putting out around 400hp. He wanted to run against me to estimate his quarter time since I'm running around the 14.8 mark.
Well, I ripped the tires for about a block off the line, which I figured he would definitely pull infront but didn't. Took him, from the glimpse that I saw, by about 2 truck lengths. He's most definitely not running anywhere around 400hp. On another note, the new exhaust system is really starting to show the improvement. 5700rpm redline comes in a flash! To bad the cam won't allow anymore. Definitely the next upgrade.
Anyways, post your latest kill stories.
BTW, I have some vids I took from my new digi cam, just need a host!
I killed a HEMI 1500 quad cab in my bone stock 2000 Grand Marquis, although I do have the sport package that gives me 3.55 gears.
And another thing, why is the 300C compared to the Crown Vic? The Crown Vic is a 6 passenger vehicle that's wider, longer, and taller than the 300C with far more passenger room, yet everyone says "the 300C is faster so it's better." Even the news new Ford 500 is bigger than the 300C, so how is it fair to compare it to the larger Crown Vic? Just because the 300C weighs close to it? That's Chryler's fault for making a porky car.
And the Crown Vic gets better gas mileage (18 city/25 highway) even though the 300C (17 city/24 highway) has cylinder deactivation and it's smaller than the Vic.

I've been looking for an SRT-10 ever since they've came out. No luck.

Congrats on the kill. I realize you guys are running at 3500 feet, and I'm glad you smoked that GM POS. But, I'm curious. Considering how light your sport truck is, being 4x2, with the 390 and all the mods, I would have thought it might do better than 14.8 or even your best 14.69 listed on your profile. What would it be expected to do at sea level?
I don't know the loss factor for changes in altitude, so I'm in the dark here. I know it can be substantial, especially a high altitude. There are quite a few Titans and Ram Hemi's running high 14's to low 15's bone stock at sea level or close to it. I have a huge, heavy 4x4 (5800 lbs. with me aboard) Nissan Armada with big 33 inch off-road tires and ran a best of 15.3 and average of 15.4 in the quarter back in the summer. No mods of any kind except a K&N drop in air filter. I quit drag racing many years ago, but had to see if the reports on these engines were true.
What do stock Ram Hemi's, and Titans run at your track? What would a Lightning do there? A SRT-10? What about your new truck's times?

I'm really glad you asked! Mid to high 14's does seem rather poor to me too. But it's very deceiving. The online calculators put my truck at roughly 14.1 at sea level, which still seems slow to me. But looking at other equivalent vehicles at the track like the 03 Lightning running high 14's like me, when alot of them have seen 13's in stock form down south. Another example is an 04 Mach I, running a best of 14.4.
I wouldn't mind knowing what she'd run now with the new exhaust and some slicks. My recent runs before the exhaust were 14.8's, and thats with a ~.25 slower 60 foot then before. It most likely would be a solid 13 second truck at sea level I'm thinking.

That must be one freak Grand Marquis.
I am more than sure what ever comparision you have seen between the Crown Vic and the 300C is due to they fact that both are V8 powered and RWD cars.
I believe I would gladly give up 1 mile per gallon for almost 100 HP difference and performance that is comparible to a lot of performance sport cars of the past and present.
I would like to hear the details of this comparision that has got you so fired up.
Yep, valve float is definitely noticed. Cam is listed to be good for 5300. If I had a host for the vid I could show you guys but... its' like whaaaaaa-dadadadada. You get the picture.
The 300C and the Crown Vic are like apples and oranges. Just because they're RWD v8s doesn't make it a good comparo. Why don't they compare it a 545i? Aside from price, it's pretty much the same as the 300C except for the fact that it whoops the Crysler's booty. It seems like every mag jumped on the bandwagon with how fast the 300C is compared to the Vic, yet never once mentioned the huge size difference. It's like everyone looks for a reason to pump up the HEMI and parade it around as this wonder engine. Just like the commercial with the new Cherokee. Wow, faster than the base 3 series beamer engine. It also seems that everyone who owns a HEMI thinks that they're the fastest thing on earth. HEMI drivers are quickly becoming the new ricers of the road, where they think that their engines make them superior to everything out there.
I've had a couple of people in 300Cs trying to talk junk about my Grand Marquis because of how "big" that their cars are and how "huge" that their rims are. I can seat 6. That's one more than a standard Trailblazer, I can tow over 2000 lbs, and I put 19 inch rims on just to shut them up in that category, too. It seems like their attitudes grow with each mag review. I don't really care about my Grand Marquis. It's my road trip/commuter car. If they want to race, I'll get my mustang. It's rear wheel drive, but they won't race it because it's smaller. Sort of like the pot calling the kettle black.
I can't wait till Chrysler introduces the 300C here.
I can't wait to whoop some serious butt - as egotistical as it sounds.
My fullsize sedan - a bit larger than a 300C -
Can tow 5000lbs
Seat 5 people in comfort

The purpose of this forum is to make intelligent comparisons of other makes against ford. They don't have to be in favor of Ford but they must be reasonable in any matter or direction. NO BRAND BASHING WILL BE ALLOWED! PERIOD!!
