Heater ?? 53-55

Has anyone found a diff 12 v heater motor that would work in a 55 or rebuild one and if rebuilt one what parts and how hard. Dont really want to have to spend $120 for a new one..Or do you know where a cheaper place to buy one is?...

Thanks
Patrick

I know this isn't what you are asking, but If you have the 6v motor, just get a voltage reducer from JC whitney. It will reduce the 12v to 6v. I have had one for the past year without any problems.

Dont wanna have to do that. But that was going to be my next ?? because I am going to start wiring it up. What kind of 12 V Voltage Regulator did you guys use. What I have is a 60 amp Alt, no AC, 460, elec fan(not sure if this info is needed). What came of my truck was a 4 prong Voltage Regulator but numbers and have been worn off. So cheap will get a new one. Which ones do you guys have?

Thanks again

Don't know about now, but when I converted my 55 several years ago, got the motor at NAPA for a 56 and wasn't bad. I tried the voltage reducer, but it glowed red all the time and scared me. That is when I bought the motor.

That just isn't true, napa has info going back to the forties. You need to go in and ask them, and; there is more than one napa store, maybe the one you called doesn't have the books, but another might have.
