I just passed 1k miles and I now feel that
steering "rub" when turning the wheel--that others have mentioned
I also get A high pitched moan --not to loud
I silicone sprayed a few spots on the steering shaft
and the only thing that did was give me a nasty odor inside the
truck
I noticed when turning my 05 SD while sitting still, it makes a slight groan. I asked the Ford mechanic about this and showed him what I meant and he said that it is normal as the steering and brake system have common powering. For what it's worth, Warranty is the key word. I would show your concern to the dealership. See what they say.
Check the power sterring fluid. My 2005 was low, barely on the stick. After filling it, the "groan" as a lot less dramatic, but it still does occassionally happen.

Normal is Ford speak for "we don't have a clue". I have the same thing and as far as I know the TSB that tells the dealer to do nothing while Ford investigates still stands. I had a '99 Chevy that did this and their answer was to replace the column.
