just a quick head question

I have a 2.0l in my 88 ranger and am thinking about swapping out my head for a 2.3 top end. I am told that the head will bolt on. My question is will this swap do anything for power, cr or anything at all.

i happen to know nothing about a Ford 2.0 liter engine! I thought ford only used a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder.
