engine dies when warm
my 302 2bb starts up great when it is cold. the choke does it's work. as soon the part of the choke is done, i mean the fast idle is over, my van dies every time i drive very slow or at a stop sign. when the engine dies, there comes a very loud hissing sound from the carb, right in the middle where the choke plate is located. it sounds to me it gets to much air.
the problem does not stop, even if i am driving an hour or so. it used to be a little diffent a couple weeks ago. back then the problem got better as soon the engine warmed up after 10min driving.
fuel pump? any stupid emission device? i had the carb and all the little sucker around it replaced 2 years ago. my map sensor is new as well?
any ideas?
Just don't spray the distributor or plug wires. Could cause a fire.
guess what, i found the problem. there is just one thing that keeps buggin me:
behind the carb is a metal cylinder with a lot of hoses coming in. one port had only some leftover from a vacuum hose on it. so i was looking for the other end of a hose flying around the carb. could not find anything. so i just plugged the port with a rubber cap and the hissing sound was over and the van rides smooth.
could it be, that there wasn't a hose in the first place, just a plug that got rotten over time??
anyway? thanks a lot and take care
