hard to start 460!
Ill make this quick. I have a 460 in a 1975 crew. If the truck sits for 12 hour or more it is very hard to start. I have to crank it for awhile to get it to start, after that it will start up right away. The choke works and I pump the pedal about ten times and still no start. Its almost like the carb is bone dry and it takes some cranking of the engine to get the carb filled up then it fires right up. Anyone with any input would be helpful.
Thanks,
Mike
Have you changed the fuel filter lately? Some filters have a check valve in them that prevents fuel from back flowing out of the bowl. If you required one and installed a filter without the valve maybe you would experiance this.
Another thing. After running the engine, shut it down and then take a look down the throat of the carb. See if fuel continues to drip down into the intake. I have heard of this happening before and could cause yer problem.
Also since kits are not to expensive you may want to just go ahead and rebuild the carb.
Good luck,
Lee
