Hi everone,
Ill make this quick. I have a 460 in a 1975 crew. If the truck sits for 12 hour or more it is very hard to start. I have to crank it for awhile to get it to start, after that it will start up right away. The choke works and I pump the pedal about ten times and still no start. Its almost like the carb is bone dry and it takes some cranking of the engine to get the carb filled up then it fires right up. Anyone with any input would be helpful.
Thanks,
Mike
i had this problem on both of my 460s. its the stock carb. it doesnt have enough fuel compacity in the exellerator pump to start it cold. i changed my carb and now i can start it cold with no choke. if you have a stock carb on it this is your problem. if you want to change it, get mr gasket #1932 adapter and put a square bore holley on it.
The fuel is boiling out of the Carb, or the diaphram in the carb could be leaking. Both are bad problem's have it checked out, or you could have a Truck shell burnt up.
