I have a 1996 Powerstroke 7.3 L that is leaking fuel from a part that is bolted to the right hand side of the fuel filter. I have changed o rings, and still the problem persists. It looks like it is leaking from the part itself. which I don't know the name of the part, or its function. I want to call salvage yards for the part, but I have no clue what the name of the part is. Help!!
When you say right hand do you mean the passenger side or looking from the front of the engine driver side? If you mean the passenger side is leaking by a yellow lever or a fitting?
If it's the sensor that screws horizontally into the manifold beside the fuel filter, it's the "Fuel Filter Vacuum Indicator", per Ford Service. It tells the truck when the filter is plugged. Temporarily, you can remove it and put in a 1/8" pipe plug. The unit costs over $50 at the stealership, but can't be found anywhere else. I know this because I just replaced mine!!!
