I think its human nature to look at things and see a way to improve them or make it my truck, boat , house ect.(in daryls case,a chest)I just modded my house with a new stucco job
Isnt it wonderful someone likes to change things? Walking is OK, the wooden wagon wheel was a great invention, but the chipped 6.0 is FANTASTIC! My dealer seems to be pretty accepting as long as I disconnect it before I send it in. BTW I have increased my mileage (calculated not lie o meter) at 20.4 or higher at btwn 78-82 with no load and no stops. Not bad for a 2wd 6.0. That is in level 5 on the Edge with a light foot.
[QUOTE=OMCUSNR]The downside is they will void your warrenty immediatly, no questions asked if they find evidence of a performance mod on your truck.

They will???? Wow, so if I add a K&N airfilter and my rear axle goes out it won't be covered by warranty?
I do not disagree that it MAY cause some warranty issues but a blanket statement that any performance mod will void all warranties is a little much don't you think?

I'm just glad that there are still SOME moderates in charge that "allow" me to do what I want to my truck no matter HOW stupid they consider it !!!
And even not calling me stupid for it is even betta !!!!
We're not quite under EU rule and giving up a lot of things.... like our freedom... YET !
In my opinion .... putting a chip on the PSD is akin to hanging furry dice from the mirror, fuzz ***** around the windows, and sticking some neon lights underneath ... it's the "I need to be cool" syndrome.
It will shorten the life of your engine.
It will void your warranty.
In some cases ... it can bring your engine to a complete halt.
But for us of an older generation, endowed with better smarts, more maturity, and wisdom when it comes to money, we enjoy life as it is given. And there is nothing nicer than the smooth ride and enjoyment of a beautiful and fully stock PSD crusing down the highway, or on the dirt road of the farm, or off road to the moose hunt in Montana. For us, a stock PSD is a cherished prize, like a mint-condition stock 1964 Mustang, or a mint-condition 1955 T-bird. Anything other than stock ... is an irremovable stain, a blemish, a soiled linen, a bruised rose. But we stock people truly love what other Napoleonic-complex people do to their vehicles ... otherwise ... our vintage stock machines wouldn't be worth 1/100th of what they are.
So think to yourself: do you really need 365 horsepower? or will 325 press you far enough into the seats as it is?
Just my opinion.
You have just made a statement of fact, do you know how ridiculous that is.
A blanket statement like that....You know the next thing, show me proof. That ALL who have one, will experience a shortened engine life
Notice I just took the first one ..inline; we'll get to... the others a bit latter.
When you type IT WILL takes it right out of being an opinion
Use of a performance device will not "void your warranty". If a claim is made to Ford under warranty and the claim is reviewed by Ford (not the dealer) and Ford determines that the failure resulting in the claim is caused by the performance device, they might deny the claim. Most chips or tuners have a range of settings. If a driver uses a moderate setting and drives sanely, it will not have and adverse affect on the engine.
I am in one of the older generations. Lift kits aren't for me, but improve the engine's performance so that I get the mileage and performance I had before Ford "fixed" it with the infamous Oct 03 flash, then I will do what makes sense.
wow, i suddenly feel lucky that my tuner got me more than 365 horsepower! oh, i'm sorry, you must mean at the rear wheels...whatever..either way, the statement is extremely inaccurate. oh yeah, hows that stock gas milage?
My 04 PSD has only 3800 miles on it.I had always put chips/programmers in my gas vehicles and loved the power and peformance increease ( I used Hypertech programmers), and they were smog legal in CA where I live. When I first got the truck my wife & I towed our tent trailer to Seattle. On the way back, I stopped at a dealer in Oregon to discuss the non-consistant fuel mileage. While I was there I spoke to 3 people at the counter-one was a friend of theirs, the other 2 were the Service Mgr & and the Asst Mgr- none of them were under the age of 55 ( the friend over 65 i'm sure). When I asked them about "chipping" the vehicle, the older friend said "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", the Asst Mgr. said not to mess with it, and the Service Mgr said that he would have alraedy chipped his truck and recommended a guy in town. Me, I have put in the Predator, leave it at the 65 HP setting, and will put on a "cat back" system soon.........
