I purchased a '68 f100 with a Mystery 429 with a c6 - (year unknown) They where incomplete and incorrectly installed. It was somone elses unfinished project- they got tired, but it was very cheap for me... ($200) Anyway Don't laugh, but I have found what I think is an electrical connection on the rear passengers side of the transmission, and I don't knw what it is? I've worked with a few manual Trannies, but this is the first Auto I have ever worked with. I haven't gotten it all pressure washed yet... so I am not 100% sure, but it looks like a broken wire clipped on there, but what would it be used for?? There was no wire hooked up, when I pulled it out of the doner yesterday, just the little 1" end clipped off. Could it be an electrical kickdown (I never heard of that???) or temperature sensor? Those where the suggestions of some guys around here... (but they admitted they really didn't know for sure.) There was no kickdown lever up to the carb, but it might be in the "spare parts" box I got with the truck --- I'm putting the combo in a 63 slick, with a floor shift.
that should be what it is. Neutral Saftey Switch. Great find for $200. wish it could have been in my area. How is the condition of the truck? I've been looking for a cheap project truck that has a motor and trans worth anything. What are your plans with this truck?
The truck itself is a little rough. I am going to sell the front fenders, grill and bumper, then chop off the cab and make a pu box trailer. There are lots of older pick-ups in this area (KS) and they are fairly cheap... especially ones thast do not run. Thak you for the tranny advice... I'm getting her cleaned up today.
