This is a little embarassing, I can't remove the tire and rim on my 95 f-150.Yes i have removed the lug nuts, I am sure the problem is the rust.I tried using a little heat (all i had was small butane bottle).Any feedback will be appreciated.
That is the trick for tires that are rusted on. it may take a while, but dont be scared to thump it pretty hard. you may have to do it from the front and backside to get it to free up. good luck
Another easy way is to loosen the lug nuts, and then drive it around the block.
I think driving it around the block may be a tad risky...maybe just back and forth is what I'd recommend.
I personally use the BFH method daily (I'm a Service Manager at a tire store) w/ great success. 2 things to keep in mind.....put a couple of lug nuts back on so the wheel doesn't attack you when it comes loose...and if not using a Rubber Mallet.....be very careful so as to not mess up rims.
If you loosen them and then retighten them hand tight, the lug nut idea isn't so bad - just don't go above 15-20. Mine were rusted on so bad that I had to run it up to twenty and slam the brakes. A light coating of grease on the mounting surfaces has kept it from doing it since.
I had the same problem a while back and I loosened all of the nuts to hand tight and drove it around a plowed field with no luck...needless to say it was rusted on pretty good. Turns out that a sledge hammer/pick axe combo managed to break it loose along with some baseball type swings with a 5' pry bar. It killed me to bring my truck in to get a tire changed but without a hoist at home there wasn't a lot I could do.
