FarmBoy .... i think she said she was from massouri...or were you refering to the shooting in the woods ...that was in wisconsin....about 30 miles fro where i park my PSD.....Yicks
Yea, I was referring to the shooting in the woods there in Wisconsin.
Seriously - how cold is it where the truck is stranded? I know from a personal test that I can get my PSD started at 25 degrees F without glow plugs. It ain't pretty, but I can do it with just a little extra cranking on the starter. The batteries and starter have to be in good shape to keep the engine turning fast.
I'd bet a bad CPS is the problem. If he really suspects the PCM he needs to get a code reader or something to connect to it to see if it is still alive.
I bet it had a bad cps and he and the son in law had a beer and stood a round for a while (dont drink and drive) and got it towed out and every thing is peachy and she hasnt thought abought a reply
It won't make you feel any happier but we have the same truck and it has been doing the same thing since the day we bought it. I will follow your situation with great interest. Our expensive big lemon doesn't communicate the problem to the diagnostic computers (been to just about every Ford shop on the east coast of Australia) and nobody knows what to do because the diagnostic computer does all the thinking these days. We are down to the helpful (because of course we are now out of warranty) but rather costly suggestion of replacing the ECM and the cam sensor. For what it is worth if he has been going over rough terrain it could well be the connection.
