When the truck has been sitting for a day, it doesn't want to start on the first crank. It tries to start on the 2nd with a ton of white smoke coming out the exhaust. Starts on the 3rd with more white smoke for about 5 seconds and runs and restarts perfect the rest of the day. Just started this 2 days ago. Never any start problems before.
Sounds like glow plugs not working. Put a test light on the big posts of the glowplug relay. One should be hot all the time and the other should be hot when the key is turned on.
Definitely sounds like a glowplug related problem. The glowplug relay and glow plugs themselves would be the first things to check. For the problem to start that suddenly like you describe - I would bet on the relay. I would imagine it unlikely, though possible, that all the glowplugs would go bad all at the same time.
im going for that gpr, check both big post and when key gets turned on check small post one should get power the other is ground. should hear it click when key comes on also. if you dont get power on one of the little post your problem is further back
Since its still under warranty and was in the dealer for other problems I let them know about it. They recalibrated the computer. Starts on the first turn now. Didn't like the answer. If the problems returns I'll update everyone
