I have been looking for a digital camera so I can show off my toys but I can't seem to get any help. Could someone please tell me what kind they are using on this site to post their toys? Thanks
These cameras are coming down in price, but the best ones are still very expensive.
I went with a SONY MAVICA, because I liked the idea of having everything saved to a floppy disc that didn't need to be "transferred" with a mess of cables and special software.
And I can take as many pics as I have discs in my pocket!
Since they are small, when I go on pic tours, I can carry a lot more than I usually need. It can get 40 pics to a disc in 640 by 480 size, even using fine resolution.
And that's plenty for a web page.
When I got mine, they were close to $650.oo, but the same camera is down near $300.oo now so I hear.
And the pictures can be edited with any good graphics software.
I use the sony Mavica also, for the simplicity of the floppy discs. Just take pictures, stick the floppy in the 'puter, and you got it. No cables or downloading to fool with.
If I used a traditional camera, I wouldn't know what I got until the film came back.
Both the film, and the processing cost money - even if you do your own processing.
If you DON'T do your own film, you run the risk that it will be boned away by whoever works at the processing place, based on what they thought you were trying to capture.
And if it's left in a drawer long enough - film fails.
And then there are light leaks, and accidents, double exposures, etc, etc...
I can erase a disc I have used to shoot, and use it over.
I can refine my own images.
I can store an amazing number of pics on a single CD/ROM
And after getting in the door is paid for, it costs me about.....
I want to thank all of you for your input. I think we have it . I hope you will look at my profile. I had a little problem at first but I just took another picture of my truck off of the computer but I have it adjusted now and I will be posting more later. Thanks. 1953Man
I use both a Nikon SLR, and A Sony Cybershot DSC-P50. They serve two completely different purposes.
The Nikon is the camera of choice when I am shooting landscapes or wildlife that I may want to enlarge and frame. SLR cameras still have better optics, along with better zoom and control, and there are some very nice films and paper out there.
The Sony gets used when I am taking photographic records that will get stored on a disk somewhere, or for emails and websites. The Sony uses memory sticks, which I find more convenient than floppy discs. I bought a 64MB memory stick, which can hold a LOT of high resolution photos. My CD-RW drive has a slot for the memory stick, or I can plug the camera into the USB cable very easily. They are definitely battery eaters, but that problem can be minimized with a rechargeable battery setup.
