Popping on start up

Popping on start up
I have a 03 F350 V10 FX4 and when starting in I have a loud pop coming from what sounds like the right front corner. Since I am sitting still with no input to the steering I don't think its steering or driveline related. The only time this happens is when you start it hot or cold. Anyone have any ideas what this is?

My '02 does the same thing. In my truck, I've found that it as the engine starts and vacuum is developed, a vacuum solenoid slams shut a flap in the HVAC system. I believe it could be the flap that controls fresh or recirc airflow.

I guess nothing to worry about then. Might be nice if they told you about it when you pick them up or atleast put it in the owners manual. because it does sound like something is going to come flying out from under the hood.

I shut down all accessories including the fan before I shut down my truck. I get this same loud thud. It is only onjce in a while. But it does seem tied to the HVAC system. My truck will be running and then i switch on the fan and sometimes it thuds. Sometimes not. Can't figure out what triggers it. My wife flipped out when she heard it cause these things cost so much.
