I have a 2002 Ford Ranger with just the stock AM/FM radio, so I'm planning on getting a CD player.
I've been looking at stock CD players that people are selling on ebay.com, and most of them say it'll fit 1998-2001 models. From the pictures, it seems they'd fit my truck perfect. Is there a reason why a 2001 CD player wouldn't fit a 2002 ranger? I haven't been able to find any 2002 CD players, and getting it from ford is too expensive.
You might want to take a look at the aftermarket stereos sold by Visteon (http://www.visteon.com). They're OEM Ford (as Visteon used to be Ford's electronics divsion), and they're selling mp3 capable cd players that should just drop in.
Another idea involves a little work. Remove your current radio from your truck to check out the size and mounting method. The, visit a local salvage yard or the like and check out a radio from any 1995-2001 ranger. You should be able to tell right away if the radio will fit.
Thanks a lot for the reply. I may as well get an mp3 player and reduce the number of CD's I have to carry. It would be worth it, even if it costs a little more. I looks like Visteon makes some great MP3 players. I'm gonna figure out how much they cost to see if they're worth it.

oh...thought I would add something...I just went to the Cleveland auto show...ANY radio from a ford ranger from 1995 to 2002 will fit, as the dash board has NOT changed. I have a 1999, and the interior is identical to the 2002's.
