I know I probrably shouldn't be posting in this section, but I have a question about an old ford tractor i got. Its a gasoline engine, 1bbl carb, basic 4-cyl, but I dont' have the year or any other info. How can I get parts for it? Was there only one engine used(hopefully). If I were gonna guess, id say 60's-70's. But I need to rebuild the carb, etc. Basic tuneup for now. Does anyone know where I can get more info? Thanks
hey,
do you have a local John Deere dealer? or Case IH? or New Holland (new hallond is Ford)? if so, you might just make a trip down there, even though it may not be what they sell, they will more than likely have access to a plethera of tractor parts.

My friends say I'm too old to play with toys.
I need new friends
flatehaed eh? I just finished a resto on a 45 8n flathead. good lil tractor but its a little underpowered. i can see it back in 45 getting out pulled by all of those M's and WD's. i've seen a couple of 8N's wit flat head V8's. now that would be a beast.
Thanks guys, I think I got it narrowed down to bein a 4000AP, '62-'64, now I just gotta find parts for it. That should be fun Any more help is always apreciated
Try antiquetractors.com Does it have power steering or a big amber light that is like a hood ornament? I believe these models were made until 64. Power steering was new in the early 60s. Look at the color scheme to see if it could be a 8N 9N(older). If it is a 9N it should have 3 gears and the 8N have 4. The Jubliee made around 53-54 for fords anniversary. They had a golden jubilee too. Then there was the 600 or 800 with the only difference is the motor is bigger on the 800. Does it have a medallion on the front? That would also help. It is nice to know what you got so you can get parts easier. Good luck.
WHAT IS IT???? try looking for # stamped in casting in the area around where starter is mounted. You may then go to TSC and get a 30 pg highly condensd service book. It is ONLY a guide but if you have the correct one it's about the best you can get.
OPTION: Get all the #s you can and then take a few good picture's and go to your friendly FORD_NEW HOLLAND dealer then Sho-N-tell. Ford N H prices are'nt to bad .Once you know what you have for sure, you can buy some parts from TSC farm store or rural NAPA store' Sometimes the paint color & scheme will give Idea.
I'v played w/them a little ,don't know much,but get by.
