Mallory Fuel Pump

I need to adjust the PSI down from 7psi to below 6.5 for the fuel pressure. Has anyone done this. I have a Mallory Comp Pump Series 110 part number 4110.
Hard starting after the engine seats for awhile. Fuel lines on my 390 and front side up around PS pump behind Alt over intake around back to the Edlebrock 750cfm fuel inlet. I wrapped the lines thinking heat might be the problem.

I think that you will need an inline regulator to adjust the pressure down any more. The 110 series are preset and not adjustable. the 140 series are prest to 12 psi and come with a regulator to drop the pressure down.

Could the fuel be boiling in the carb bowls? Maybe a heat shield under the carb is needed.

I added the inline regulator maybe 6" after the fuel pump. It drop leaks from the ****.. The PSI on the 110 pump is 7psi the regulator will take psi up to 10psi. I'm going to move the regulator down the line and see if the leak stops. I set it to 5.5psi. I also read about the heat shield gasket. I have a edelbrock intake. Thanks for your comments.

The regulator should be close to the carb. At least, under the hood on the fenderwell.

I moved the regulator near the PS pump and replaced the fuel lines before and after the fuel pump. No leaks at the regulator and runs good. I'm going to add the heat shield gasket for good measure.
