My 77 custom F250 dosn't handle the way I would like for it to when going through the mountains. It doesn't handle the turns will. When I'm towing my 5th wheel it leans on the curves. When the motor was rebuilt by Ford they also did the front end. King Pins Ball Joints and Tie Rod ends.I have sence put heave duty shocks on the rear.It just doesn't handle the way I think it should. My hot rod days are long over so it's not a speed thing.
Here is my thoughs. Being a Custon it is not as beefie as a camper special.
Meaning springs, sway bars and shocks.
If I was to put a Anti sway bar on front and rear do you think this would cure the problem?I have to compair the springs also. Whats your though on this.
THANKS
Don
How long and heavy is your 5th wheel.whats the gvw of the truck. If every thing checks out ok.You might think of sway bars, and may be some coilover adjustable shocks.Just a thought. Some one on this site will probably have a better answer for ya.
I have a 75 F-250 custom that I haul 10' slide in camper with. I put Helwig front and rear sway bars on it a few months back after I made 1 short trip with the camper. The sway bars make it handle like a sports car when empty, and GREATY reduces the swaying with the camper. They weren't cheap, but well worth the price.
If it's not sagging when loaded and you have heavy duty shocks, I think the sway bars will give you the handling you want.
I know that the wieght in in line. I used to pull this 21' fith wheel with my 95 F150 with a little 302.
We were restricked on where we could go that is why I had this truck built.I bought it knowing I would have to have it rebuilt. It was what I was looking for at way under the price range that I though I was going to pay.
With a 351M and with the addition of the GeerVenders and FlowMasters exhaust it pulls great. It just need to handle better. With the 95 I think it had sway bars it didn't sway. That is why I thinking sway bars ????
Don
I've got them on my 75 Camper Special, front and rear. I think you'll find them on every year that made the CS which I thought was every year. Differences will be on 2x4 and 4x4 I think.

That's the answere I was hopeing for. Here is Calif we have a self service wreaking yard.I going to have to make a trip there.
Do you think the rear springs would be diffrent also? HEAVER DUTY
sway bars would help, maybe air shocks in the rear would help more. If you really want to make it a camper special, put some bigger rotors and callipers on the front end. The factory camper specials would put you thorugh the windsheild if you hit em while empty.
I had a chance to take a look at 78 F250 4x2 Camper Special. Was at the parts house and saw one.The man that owned it didn't mind looking at his truck.
There is deffantly a big diffrence in the springs. My 250 custon has only 6 leafs. His had 9. I didn't have a tape with me,But they seamed wider also.
I was so happy to see there was that diffrence that I didn't even notic the sway bar.If he had one or not.
I think that adding the Camper Special springs is going to make a big diffrence
I dont know what part of California you are in, but there is an awesome spring shop in west sac that can build you some great springs. if you do the pick-n-pull route, you will need to get the bracket that sandwiches between the I-beam, and the strut. you may need the strut also I dont remember. aftermarket sway bars may be easier to install on a truck that never had it before, get front and rear.

Thanks for this information.Could you send me a PM on this shop. It might be the better way to go. Not inpressed with pick -n- pull
