Continuous Variable transmissions
I just test drove a new Ford 500 AWD which has the CVT. The question is, any idea how long these trannys will last, they are relatively new, and I think Suzuki had one years back but no real feedback on how well they perform over the years. Can they handle 200 hp reliably? How about the 6 sp auto? The literature claims the fluid in the 6 sp is good for 150k or 10 yrs. Comments?

Nissan uses the CVT in the Murano.. That said it is my understanding that G.M. is discontinuing them in the Saturn Vue.. I would not yet buy one.. a more normal 6 speed sounds safer for now to me.. Just M.H.O..
