ive looked at the ats and diesel site units and it seems like a nice unit but they are sure proud of it before i shovel out $1000-1400 on one ive been thinking about doing it myself. anybody else out there?? im eventually looking to be in the 350 hp range. so im not sure if the intercooler off the stock 99.5 and up would be suffecent, im going to add water/ methonal inj down the road also
I know a lot of guys that have put an intercooler from a SuperDuty into their pre-99 truck. It's a lot of work, but well worth it, especially if you're going to be adding aftermarket injectors. I also know of a place that sells a kit that includes all the pipes for connecting everything. What you're thinking about doing if fairly common in certain circles.
You can normally pick up a used SD intercooler on eBay for around $200, so it's a lot cheaper way to go than a new Hypermax, for example.
i found the kit i think quad was talking about at gts motorsports and the coolers them selves are all over ebay. im still looking at the junkyards though thinking about droppin a front axle front a superduty under my 97 if i cant fund a dana 60 soon. im getting close to needing a complete front brake job and dont want to do it to the 50. the gts kit would put me around $750 total i can get and bend the aluminum tube the only problem is the rolled ends this seems like a pretty good package
definatley going slotted rotors. the install according to gts isnt that bad at all. thinking that will be my next project as soon as the flat bed and the 5" exaust is done. then on to the front axle, i have like 6 months worth the front brakes, but dont want to wait
