Should I Replace Anything???
its not showing any signs of trouble and would like to keep it that way...The only thing I notice is when towing uphill with my 7000lb trailer it kinda makes a chugging sound through the air intake, Not loud but a constant even sound. Thanks
The noise coming out of the air intake: It's compressor stall and it's hard on the turbo. There are a few options to remedy that from $50.00 to $1000.00 and up from there. The $50.00 option is the way that I went and it cleared it up. It's called the Wicked Wheel or the Swisher Wheel. Basically it's the intake turbine from an early Powerstroke. At that price you have to install it yourself but if you are a decent wrench it's not hard at all, just tedious because you have to lay across the engine and work on the turbo, or pull the turbo out of the truck and replace it while on the bench. The other more expensive options are a Ball bearing turbo with a ported housing, etc.
Other issues that these trucks have is air in the fuel being introduced at the quick connects from the tank to the fuel pump inlet.
