wheel play
Just finished ( with the help of this forum ) replacing the ball joints and tie rod ends on my 98 ranger 2wd. It now feels like I have some play in the steering. I did not replace the tie rod. Could this be my problem? Shouldn't be any wheel play in rack and pinion steering, right? Any ideas will be appreciated

Check the rag joint. It's on the shaft going from the steering wheel to the steering box, located right below the brake master cylinder. Mine has torn recently so I'm dealing with a little bit of slop as well. It isn't a daily driver so I'll replace it after the holidays.
