I know this topic has came up before but has anyone used any aftermarket nerf bars yet? When i went to Dee Zee's website and typed in my info they had some and i was just wondering if anyone has used them and what the fit was like for these trucks. Im gonna need some soon after i lift my truck and i have been wanting to have some to kindof act as rock guards for when im offroading. thanks for any info

i had some bigger exhaust pipe bent and welded plates on the ends then bolted them to my frame on my jeep. after they were painted you couldnt tell the difference. 10 bucks all together.
They are more for looks then real rock guards that are going to take the weight of your vehicle. The DeeZee ones attach with narrow vertical plates and the tubing is 1/8 wall if that.
I think taking 3/16 - 1/4 tubing and welding plates on that go over both frame flanges gives the best support. Nothing is worse then having rock guards smush up into your door and rocker panels AND leave you hung up. Not being able to open the door makes for some interesting problems.
thats what the window is for. haven't you ever watched the Duke boys and the General Lee? Thats what i had to do today. My drivers door wouldn't open so i had to craw through the window to take it to it's appointment. kinda hard to go through the window on a 4x4 f-250. i had to use the bed to get up so i could get in. lol. gotta lot of looks from people. one guy asked me if i was Lukes nephew lol.
